What I Look For After a First Prescription

After someone starts a homeopathic remedy, one of the most common questions is:

“Is it working?”

It’s a reasonable question.
But the answer isn’t always as straightforward as people expect.

A simple conversation, but often where the real work begins

In practice, I’m not just looking for whether a symptom has disappeared.

That can happen. But often, the early signs are more subtle than that.

One of the first things I pay attention to is energy.

Is there a slight lift, even if the main complaint is still there?
Are they recovering more quickly after a busy day?
Do things feel a little more manageable?

These small shifts can be more meaningful than they seem.

Sometimes the changes are small, but they’re there

Sleep is another important indicator.

Sometimes people start sleeping more deeply.
Or waking feeling slightly more rested.

It might not feel dramatic, but it’s often one of the first signs that the system is responding.

I also pay attention to the emotional side.

People might find themselves reacting differently to situations.
Less overwhelmed.
A bit more space between them and whatever is going on.

Again, not always obvious, but noticeable over time.

Of course, I’m also looking at the main complaint.

But rather than expecting it to disappear straight away, I’m paying attention to:

  • intensity

  • frequency

  • how the person experiences it

Is it changing, even slightly?

A quieter kind of progress

This is why follow-ups matter.

Because what someone notices day to day isn’t always the full picture.
When we look at it together, patterns tend to become clearer.

Not every case follows the same path.

Sometimes a remedy needs adjusting.
Sometimes things move more quickly.

But in many cases, the early signs are quieter.

And learning to recognise them can make the whole process feel a lot more grounded.

If you’re unsure how things are progressing, it’s always worth checking in.
